Job Summary:
Vocal AI is seeking a highly skilled and creative AI Prompt Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the conversational capabilities of our AI voice and chat agents. You will design, develop, and optimize prompts to ensure our agents deliver accurate, engaging, and contextually relevant interactions across various customer service and sales scenarios.
Responsibilities:
Prompt Design & Optimization:
- Craft and refine prompts for large language models (LLMs) to guide AI voice and chat agents in handling diverse customer inquiries, including FAQs, troubleshooting, sales queries, and appointment scheduling.
- Develop prompt strategies to enhance agent personality, tone, and conversational flow, ensuring a natural and engaging user experience.
- Optimize prompts for specific use cases, such as providing product information, resolving customer issues, and guiding users through transactions.
- Design prompts that minimize bias, hallucinations, and other potential limitations of LLMs.
Conversation Flow Development:
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to develop conversation flows and scripts for AI voice and chat agents.
- Analyze user input and agent responses to identify areas for improvement in prompt design and conversation flow.
- Create and maintain a library of effective prompts, templates, and best practices for various use cases.
Testing & Evaluation:
- Develop and implement systematic testing protocols to evaluate prompt effectiveness and agent performance.
- Analyze agent outputs and user feedback to identify patterns, edge cases, and opportunities for prompt refinement.
- Utilize metrics and analytics to measure agent performance and optimize for key performance indicators (KPIs), such as customer satisfaction and resolution rate.
Collaboration & Innovation:
- Work closely with AI developers, engineers, and product managers to integrate prompt engineering into the AI agent development lifecycle.
- Stay current on the latest advancements in LLMs, prompt engineering techniques, and conversational AI.
- Contribute to the development of innovative AI voice and chat solutions that push the boundaries of customer interaction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Linguistics, Communication, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 2+ years of experience in a role involving natural language processing, content creation, or technical writing, with a focus on conversational AI or prompt engineering preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to design effective prompts that generate consistent, high-quality outputs from LLMs.
- Strong understanding of conversational AI principles and best practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to systematically test and iterate on prompt designs.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and nuance in language.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with specific LLMs (e.g., GPT-4, Gemini, Claude).
- Familiarity with prompt engineering techniques (e.g., few-shot learning, chain-of-thought prompting, retrieval-augmented generation).
- Experience with AI agent development platforms or frameworks.
- Knowledge of customer service and sales processes.
- Basic programming skills (e.g., Python) for data analysis and automation.
