Expedia Group is seeking a Senior Prompt Engineer to join our dynamic Performance Marketing team. This hybrid role blends the strategic mindset of a Technical Product Manager with foundational knowledge of Machine Learning Science, focusing on harnessing the power of Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to transform and scale our global digital advertising efforts.
You’ll collaborate with marketing managers, data engineers, and AI specialists to streamline campaign creation, automate reporting, and generate actionable insights—enabling smarter, faster, and more scalable marketing decisions. Design, test, and optimize prompt frameworks using LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, Gemini) to automate key advertising workflows.
Automate campaign creation tasks such as keyword generation, ad copywriting, audience segmentation, and asset development.
Experiment with advanced techniques like retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, and multi-modal integrations (e.g., NLP + structured data).
Experience and qualifications:
6-8 years of experience in a technical role, ideally in digital marketing, product management, software development, automation, or AI/ML applications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Marketing Analytics, Machine Learning a related field of study or equivalent work experience
Deep understanding of LLMs and prompt engineering techniques (e.g., few-shot prompting, chain-of-thought, structured output)
Proficient in Python, SQL, and working with APIs (especially OpenAI, Cohere, Anthropic)
Familiar with performance marketing platforms (Google Ads, Meta) and key metrics (ROAS, CPA, CTR) and A/B testing and marketing experimentation frameworks
The total cash range for this position in Austin is $173,000.00 to $242,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $277,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
