Job Description
The AI Prompt Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing, and maintaining effective prompts and workflows that leverage generative AI tools to improve business operations, automation, and knowledge management. This role bridges the gap between human intent and AI capability - crafting, testing, and refining prompts to produce accurate, contextually aware, and compliant AI outputs across departments. The position partners closely with IT, Cybersecurity, Compliance, and Business Operations teams to safely and effectively deploy AI-driven solutions.
Candidate must be in Northeast, OH are expected to work onsite at least once per week.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Develop, test, and refine prompts to ensure consistent, high-quality AI responses across platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Box AI, Zoom AI, other LLM integrations).

Partner with department leaders to identify business problems solvable through AI workflows and prompt automation.

Create and maintain a library of reusable prompt templates for tasks such as documentation, communication, and analytics.

Continuously evaluate AI model performance and fine-tune prompts for accuracy, tone, compliance, and alignment with company standards.

Collaborate with Cybersecurity and Compliance to ensure all prompts and AI workflows adhere to data-governance, privacy, and ethical guidelines.

Train staff on effective AI usage, including prompt design, responsible use, and efficiency techniques.

Track usage data and provide feedback reports to leadership regarding prompt effectiveness and AI ROI.

Assist in integrating AI capabilities into internal systems and applications in collaboration with developers and data engineers.

Maintain documentation of AI workflows, test results, and version histories of prompts.

Stay current with emerging trends in large language models, multimodal AI, and prompt engineering best practices.

Perform other duties as assigned to advance the organization’s AI strategy and innovation initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong understanding of large language models (LLMs) and generative AI systems.

Exceptional writing and communication skills with a focus on clarity, tone, and intent.

Analytical and creative thinking for iterative problem solving and workflow design.

Familiarity with data privacy, security, and compliance principles related to AI use.

Working knowledge of AI platforms (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Vertex AI, or Microsoft Azure AI).

Ability to translate business needs into precise, testable prompts and structured logic.

Experience with scripting or programming languages (Python, JSON, YAML) preferred but not required.

Collaborative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams.

Ability to manage multiple AI projects and maintain documentation with attention to detail.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Communications, Linguistics, or related field preferred.

1+ years of experience working with generative AI tools, automation systems, or NLP frameworks.

Demonstrated experience designing and optimizing AI prompts or workflows for business use.

Experience in healthcare or regulated industries is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Salary Rate: $78,566.00 to $145,347.10
Salary Range:
$78,566.00 - $145,347.00
Salary may be determined on several factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, experience, education, geographical location and requirements stated in job description.
