Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Prompt Engineer role based in Nairobi County, Kenya. The Prompt Engineer will design, test, and optimize prompts and workflows for AI language models to support internal teams in areas such as operations, customer support, risk analysis, and marketing content. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing business requirements, translating them into prompt templates, running experiments, and refining outputs for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with internal policies. The role involves collaborating closely with product, data, and operations teams to identify use cases, document best practices, and ensure AI tools are reliable, safe, and aligned with MOGO Kenya’s mission. The Prompt Engineer will also monitor performance, gather feedback from users, and recommend improvements to AI-assisted processes.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in prompt design, testing, and optimization for large language models, with the ability to structure instructions for high-quality, consistent outputs.
- Proficiency in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and experimentation, including designing A/B tests and interpreting results to improve AI-assisted workflows.
- Excellent written communication skills in English, with the ability to write clear, concise instructions, guidelines, and documentation for non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with basic programming or scripting (e.g., Python, SQL, or similar) and comfort working with APIs or AI tools to integrate prompts into business processes.
- Understanding of data privacy, ethical AI use, and quality assurance practices, especially in a financial services or regulated environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Linguistics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in financial services, fintech, or customer-centric operations in Kenya is an advantage.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team, prioritize multiple tasks, and adapt to evolving technologies and business needs.
