A major regional finance group is currently reviewing its internal governance and strategic risk frameworks. JHC Consulting provides the external scrutiny required for this process, acting as counsel to the board and executive leadership. To support our work with this client, we are looking for a Junior Prompt Engineer. This role is focused on the intersection of language models and high-level corporate analysis. As a member of a fully remote practice, you will work with our principals to refine how we use artificial intelligence to interrogate internal documents and assist in the drafting of detailed memoranda. This is a permanent, full-time position that requires a disciplined approach to both writing and logic.
The Role
In this role, your primary task is the construction and refinement of prompts used to analyze corporate data and documentation. We do not use these tools to generate finished work, but to test arguments and identify contradictions in large datasets. Your day-to-day activities will involve:
- Designing and testing prompts that help our analysts extract specific insights from financial and strategic texts.
- Testing different large language models to determine which configurations produce the most accurate and logically sound summaries.
- Collaborating with our principals to translate complex advisory questions into structured queries that the models can process reliably.
- Auditing model outputs to ensure they meet our standards for factual accuracy and intellectual rigor.
- Maintaining a library of prompt templates that reflect the firm's specific analytical style and vocabulary preferences.
- Supporting the preparation of memoranda by using prompts to cross-reference multiple sources and identify gaps in a company's internal narrative.
- Documenting the logic behind specific prompt sequences to ensure our methods are transparent and repeatable.
What You Bring
While this is an entry-level position, we expect a high degree of maturity and a serious interest in the technical application of language. You do not need years of professional experience, but you must demonstrate an ability to think through complex problems in a structured way. We are looking for candidates who possess:
- A strong command of the English language: since we believe writing is thinking, your ability to draft clear, precise sentences is your most important tool.
- Basic familiarity with large language models and an interest in how they process information.
- A degree in a field that emphasizes rigorous analysis: this could be computer science, linguistics, philosophy, English literature, or finance.
- The ability to work independently in a remote setting: you must be comfortable managing your time and your own workspace.
- Strong attention to detail: the work involves finding small inconsistencies in long documents.
- Curiosity about corporate governance and the way large organizations make decisions.
- A preference for clear, direct communication over corporate jargon.
How We Work
JHC Consulting is not structured like a typical consultancy. We do not work in large teams and we do not produce slide presentations. Our work is the document. Every engagement culminates in a signed memorandum that provides a written record of our analysis. This individual accountability means that even entry-level members must take ownership of their specific tasks. We value the discipline of the written word and the courage to name uncomfortable truths. Your work as a Junior Prompt Engineer will be the foundational layer that allows our principals to conduct their analysis with greater speed and accuracy.
Working at JHC Consulting
Our firm is small by design and operates on a fully remote basis. This allows us to recruit the best thinkers regardless of their location, provided they can align with our standards for quality and discretion. You will have a high degree of autonomy in how you approach your tasks, but you will also be expected to meet the firm's expectations for thoroughness. This is a paid position, and the compensation is competitive for the entry-level market. We provide an environment where the focus remains on the work itself rather than the ceremonies and meetings that often consume the corporate day.
Every piece of work produced at JHC Consulting carries the name of its author. We believe this practice ensures a level of care and scrutiny that is often lost in larger organizations. By joining us, you agree to work within a model of high individual accountability where the goal is always clarity of thought and the defense of a sound argument. We look for individuals who take pride in the document they produce and who understand that even the smallest task contributes to the integrity of the firm's counsel.
