About Alpine Business Consulting
Alpine Business Consulting is a specialized team dedicated to fixing enterprise performance management and reporting systems that have lost their way. Often, a company invests in complex planning tools only to find that the implementation cut corners, leaving finance teams to deal with numbers that do not match and month-end closes that take far too long. We step in to configure these systems properly or build new ones from the start. Our consultants have spent years working with Oracle EPM, SAP BPC, and modern analytics stacks. They bring real-world experience to every project rather than using a client engagement as a training ground for junior staff.
We are currently supporting a partner in Berlin who is modernizing their internal reporting tools. Our goal is to ensure their finance teams can rely on a single source of truth every morning without manual intervention. This project involves integrating large language models into their existing data workflows to help users query complex datasets using natural language. This is a fully remote role, allowing you to work from your preferred location while contributing to high-stakes enterprise projects.
The role
As a Junior Prompt Engineer, you will assist our senior consultants in bridge the gap between complex financial data and natural language interfaces. You will be responsible for drafting, testing, and refining the instructions given to AI models to ensure they produce accurate and useful responses for business users. This position is permanent and full-time, designed for someone at the start of their career who is interested in the intersection of data and language.
Because we focus on transparency and predictability, your work will be heavily grounded in documentation. We do not just want a prompt that works once: we want a configuration that works reliably every time a client runs a report. You will learn how to structure instructions that minimize errors and keep the AI focused on the specific data provided by the client systems.
What you will do - Draft and test prompts for large language models to assist with financial data analysis and reporting.
- Collaborate with senior consultants to understand the specific reporting requirements of our partner in Berlin.
- Document prompt versions and the resulting outputs to track improvements and identify potential errors.
- Help maintain a library of successful prompt templates that the client team can use independently.
- Verify that the AI model responses align with the single source of truth established in the financial systems.
- Clean and organize sample datasets used to test the effectiveness of new prompts.
- Participate in team reviews to discuss which prompt structures lead to the most accurate configuration.
- Assist in creating user guides that explain how the finance team should interact with the AI tools.
What we need from you - A basic understanding of how large language models like GPT or Claude function and respond to instructions.
- Clear and concise writing skills in English, with an ability to explain complex ideas simply.
- A methodical approach to testing, showing patience when a prompt needs multiple iterations to work correctly.
- Basic familiarity with spreadsheets or data structures, such as knowing how rows and columns relate to each other.
- The ability to follow specific configuration guides and technical documentation provided by senior staff.
- Strong attention to detail, specifically when checking numbers and dates for accuracy.
- A willingness to learn about enterprise performance management and why clean data matters to finance teams.
- Reliability in a fully remote environment, including consistent communication and meeting deadlines.
What the role offers
This is a paid position, and the compensation is competitive for an entry-level role in the consulting and technology market. You will have the opportunity to work directly with senior consultants who have deep expertise in enterprise systems. We prioritize a healthy working environment where the focus is on doing the job right the first time. Since we are a fully remote company, you will have the flexibility to manage your workspace while remaining a vital part of our project team. We provide the training and configuration guides needed for you to grow your skills in prompt engineering and data management.
How we work
We believe in transparency and predictability. We provide fixed-price quotes wherever possible and prioritize documentation that a client team can actually use. Our goal is to hand over a system that works reliably and then step back, ensuring the company has the training and configuration guides needed to remain independent. Whether it is a stalled cloud migration or a dashboard that nobody opens, we focus on providing a single source of truth that finance teams can trust. We avoid corporate fluff and jargon, preferring direct communication and honest assessments of what a system can and cannot do. You will be expected to uphold these standards in your documentation and your interactions with the team.
