Job Summary:
The Prompt Diagnostic Subject Matter Expert position will be supporting the Air Force Technical Applications Center's (AFTAC) US Prompt Diagnostic System (USPDS) program with operations support developing and executing daily data processing, sample analysis, background data analysis. USPDS, which falls under the National Technical Nuclear Forensics (NTNF) mission leverages AFTAC to detect, identify, and characterize nuclear events and to report nuclear forensic information to national authorities. The USPDS is a fully integrated, terrestrially based, geographically dispersed, centrally managed prompt detection and reporting system. The candidate will be provided with specific mission related tasking and be expected to independently develop the proper approach/solution, brief findings to senior leadership, and conduct independent research.
Responsibilities:
-
Collect, process, transmit, and analyze forensic data phenomena resulting from a nuclear event.
-
Provide technical solutions to the AFTAC USPDS program and operations team in the SOS/SOL areas of radio frequency (RF), electromagnetic pulse (EMP), prompt gamma (PG), radiation transport, electromagnetic (EM) spectrum, air fluorescence (AF), optical, scaling laws, overpressure, infrasound, and seismic.

Utilizing the existing AFTAC message format, produce technical evaluations for events of interest (EOI) and to support exercises for the USPDS mission capability.
-
Perform sensor data background characterization, statistical analysis, and data evaluation for SOS/SOL technologies.
