As an AI Prompt Engineer Associate, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of GSA.

We are seeking a highly curious and detail-oriented associate prompt engineer with strong communication and analytical thinking skills to help design, refine, and test prompts for a variety of AI use cases. In this role, you will collaborate closely with AI-ML subject-matter experts and solutions architects to develop clear, effective instructions that support the creation of AI-enabled software solutions.

No programming experience is required. We are looking for exceptional communicators, critical thinkers, and creative problem solvers. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who loves language, enjoys experimenting with AI tools, and wants to enter the rapidly growing field of AI-driven software development and model interaction.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The AI Prompt Engineer Associate must have:

Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science or High School Degree
Experience: 0+ years of related experience with BA/BS or 4 years of relevant experience with High School Degree
Required skills

Excellent problem-solving skills with creative mindset
Strong communication skills to collaborate with other program members and stakeholders
Curiosity about AI systems, how they work, and how to optimize generative AI responses
Strong analytical thinking
Comfort with iterative experimentation and attention to detail
Experience using AI tools (Gemini, ChatGPT, CoPilot, etc.)

Desired skills

Certifications in Prompt Engineering
Experience in writing, editing, and content development using GenAI is a plus

Role Responsibilities

Create, test, and refine prompts for various AI use cases (vibe coding, content generation, workflows, classification, etc.)
Analyze AI outputs for accuracy, quality, tone, and adherence to requirements under supervision
Document prompt templates, test cases, and best practices
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand program goals and translate them into effective prompt strategies
Identify edge cases, failure modes, and opportunities to improve reliability
Maintain libraries of prompts and ensure consistent style and instructions across program under senior level supervision
Stay current on generative AI capabilities, limitations, and emerging techniques

The likely salary range for this position is $78,200 - $105,800. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
