Poindexter Contributor (Prompt Engineer)
Poindexters create and review high-quality technical training data for advanced AI systems. This role is suited to people with strong subject-matter expertise who enjoy rigorous problem solving, clear written reasoning, and careful evaluation of complex work.
Responsibilities
- Solve challenging prompts in mathematics, coding, science, logic, or other specialist domains
- Write clear, structured explanations showing the reasoning behind each answer
- Review contributor submissions for accuracy, completeness, and clarity
- Evaluate AI model responses and identify mistakes, gaps, or unsupported reasoning
- Create original tasks that test advanced reasoning and subject understanding
- Follow project-specific quality standards, rubrics, and review processes
- Collaborate with other contributors and respond constructively to feedback
What we’re looking for
- Strong expertise in mathematics, computer science, physics, engineering, statistics, economics, or another technical field
- Excellent written English, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and precisely
- Proficiency with LaTeX for technical notation, especially in mathematics-heavy work
- High attention to detail and comfort working to rigorous quality standards
- Good judgement when assessing correctness, ambiguity, and reasoning quality
- Reliability, intellectual honesty, and willingness to revise work based on feedback
- Prior research, teaching, professional, or advanced academic experience is welcome but not required
Role details
This is flexible, project-based contributor work with fully remote international opportunities. Contributors can work as much or as little as they like, depending on their availability and the needs of active projects.
Contributors are paid weekly, one week in arrears, with consistent rates for equivalent work regardless of geographic location.
